Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role within InterMed?
I grew up in Wellington (go the Hurricanes) and moved to Auckland in my mid-20s. Met my husband and we have bought up two fabulous children and we love living out West Auckland.
For the past five years, I have led the amazing Customer Services team in NZ. I recently took on a new role as Customer Service Manager ANZ, overseeing both the NZ and Australian teams.
How long have you worked at InterMed?
I joined InterMed in January 2015, so I have been here for 9 ½ years. I joined the Customer Services team doing Purchasing and consignment management and moved into the Team leader role five years ago when the opportunity opened.
What does a typical day as a Customer Service Manager look like?
No two days are alike. I spend my day developing and guiding the team through their tasks and working on improving our processes.
What advice can you offer to other Customer Service Managers who are just starting?
Treat everyone with respect, and never ask someone to do something you are not prepared to do yourself.
What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever been given?
Never go to a manager for advice unless you have a suggested solution to the problem.
What are your favourite things about working at InterMed?
I love the culture and the care everyone has for the patients at the end of all we do.
What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?
Listen, involve the team, and nothing happens overnight.
How do you like to spend your time when you aren’t working?
I am a keen crafter and a member of a leisure Marching Team.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Play the piano.
How do you define success?
The satisfaction of a job well done. This can be as small as marking off your to-do list after the completion of a major project.
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Travel to Washington DC to go to the Smithsonian.
